Secaucus Hires Two More Police Officers This July

SECAUCUS, NJ — Police Chief Dennis Miller is following through on his mission to expand the ranks of the Secaucus police department, with the town hiring two additional police officers last week. New hires Thomas Hering Jr. and Jesus Rodriguez-Ferreira were sworn in last Thursday, July 2 as probationary patrolmen with the Secaucus police. Their starting salaries will be $35,000 per year. When Miller was promoted to chief earlier this year, he gave Secaucus Mayor Mike Gonnelli and the council a plan to expand the ranks of the Secaucus police department. These two new hires bring the department size to 74; it was 68 officers two years ago. Also at the ceremony Secaucus police chaplain Father Victor Kennedy was honored with a chaplain badge. The department's most senior patrolman, Police Officer Thomas Keegan, was also honored. Keegan is now the senior most patrolman in the police department, and completed his twentieth year of service this July.
