Secaucus Pharmacy Broken Into; Drugs Stolen, Owner Says

SECAUCUS, NJ — Quik Drugs pharmacy in Secaucus was broken into this past Sunday, both Secaucus police and the pharmacy owner confirmed. The suspects entered by breaking a window; they stole drugs, said the pharmacy owner, Raj Patel. The break-in happened sometime in the early morning hours of Sunday, Oct. 11. "At 8:43 a.m. a broken window, which is believed to be the point of entry, was discovered," said Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller, who said he could not provide any more information since the incident is still being investigated. But Patel confirmed that drugs such as cold medicine and Xanax were stolen, "all stuff they can resell on the street," he said. He and his wife own the pharmacy, and they said interior security cameras captured the entire incident, as masked men could be seen rummaging through the store and pharmacy area. He said they were inside the store for no more than three minutes Sunday morning before running out. He said they did not make off with any cash. Patel just opened the pharmacy in the past year and he said he did not want to put bars on the windows or doors as, "I am not the property owner and it ruins the whole look of the neighborhood.
