Description

Celebrate the Twenties! Support Storytellers Macon's free and low-cost programs with this event featuring music, story sharing and libations We kicked off the decade with isolation, now let's celebrate coming together over shared experiences! Storytellers Macon is on a mission to highlight the vibrant and diverse people of Macon by passing on the mic, one voice at a time. Support the mission of our daring arts and culture organization by attending this party. For a number of years and in multiple settings, we've had our free monthly open-mic event (currently held the second Tuesday of every month at Grant's Lounge). Since the pandemic began, Storytellers Macon blossomed. We took over management of Pulse, a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization. We began sharing curated stories in elevated events at The Grand Opera House and The Douglass Theatre, deeping the relationship between the teller and the stage. We even began offering educational workshops to the community free of charge. This year, we'll tell over 100 stories. Could yours be next? This is the first time Storytellers Macon has ever done a fundraising event. We're going to raise the roof on this party - there will be music (the kind with the soul only Grant's can provide), finger foods and libations (first drink on us), featured tellers (some Storytellers Macon faves) and a chance to connect with someone new sitting next to you through story. Best of all, you'll be supporting keeping Storytellers programming and education for the future. The theme for this event and our stories is My Roaring Twenties. The decade that had you swing into adulthood is bound to be wild. Whether you're still navigating the quarterlife crisis or you're looking back fondly on youth, tell us a story that exemplifies the nature of your twentysomething self. Won't be able to join us May 13? You can STILL support. Pledge us a Story Star donation, and YOU will have the chance to honor a mentor that helped you get through your twenties. Write your dedication of what this person meant to you, and we'll place the story text on a star and place it outside Grant's before the event and on social media. Honor a dear one and give to our cause at the same time!
