Join us for an evening of praise and celebration as we honor the legacy of our founder, the late Gwendolyn J. Elliott. Gwen’s Girls is looking ahead to our 20th-Anniversary celebration. Twenty years of honoring the legacy of Gwendolyn J. Elliott. A force within the City of Pittsburgh, Gwen was ahead of her time as she broke down racial and gender barriers by entering the Pittsburgh police force, a male-dominant industry. Throughout her career as a police officer, sergeant and ultimately commander, Gwen realized the struggles Black girls and women faced in their daily lives. She realized a needed change and became a champion of those girls, supporting their lives and the lives of their families. It was then she formed Gwen’s Girls. Twenty years later, Gwen’s Girls continue to provide the essential needs for Black girls in Allegheny County and the Pittsburgh region. Twenty years of mentoring girls and women to make a difference within their communities. Twenty years of educating, developing and preparing Black girls to be the best they can be. Legacy is defined as a gift. And as we honor the legacy of Gwendolyn J. Elliott, we look forward to celebrating her gift to her beloved community, Gwen’s Girls.
