The League of Women Voters of Manatee County's guest speaker Johnette Isham, Executive Director of Realize Bradenton. Realize Bradenton brings people together to create a more vibrant, attractive and prosperous area for residents, visitors, and businesses. It works with other groups to continually strengthen the social, cultural, and physical assets in the Bradenton area, through public engagement, outreach, special events and communication. Johnette has a long history of innovative cultural education and projects, starting in Providence, Rhode Island, with a program for youth, Florida in 1988 as Vice President for Academic Affairs at Ringling College of Art & Design, where she created a Liberal Arts Program and expanded the use of digital technology. In 2009 Johnette became the founding director of Realize Bradenton —a wonderful opportunity for her to combine her interests in the arts, education, community and creativity. She has much to do with making our downtown the vibrant place that it is. Our schedule for the day is: 11:00 am–LWVMC business meeting; 11:45–luncheon; 12:15 pm–speaker presentation and discussion. LWV members, please arrive by 10:45 am; nonmembers, by 11:30 am. Enjoy an excellent lunch with your choice of entrées (Chicken Marsala, Roasted Herb Encrusted Pork Loin or Garden Quiche with tomato, spinach, caramelized onion), side dishes, dessert and beverage.
