WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough will celebrate Arbor Day in 2022 with a ceremony celebrating the planting of a new tree. On April 29, the Westborough Department of Public Works will plant a tree at Greg's Field, 66-78 Upton Road. The planting comes after the Select Board signed an Arbor Day proclamation. Arbor Day has been celebrated in the U.S. in some form since the 1870s, according to the Arbor Day Foundation. Typically held on the last day in April — following Earth Day — the holiday encourages governments and individuals to plant trees as an act of environmental stewardship.
