LAKELAND, FL — An Audi split in two while killing the driver when it hit a tree early Saturday morning in Lakeland, Florida Highway Patrol said. A 47-year-old male driver of Lakeland lost control of his car on State Road 549 at about 3:20 a.m. He then crashed into a tree near South Lake Silver Drive. The car was halved and medical staff pronounced him dead at the location, according to FHP. *FHP does not release the names of victims in accordance with Marsy's Law.
