Description
Chief is a loving, protective, and smart family dog. He is 2 years old. We all love this dog and will be very careful about entrusting him to a new owner.
Why we love him:
- He's incredibly good with kids. Cannot emphasize enough how calm and gentle he is around kids of all ages and activity levels. He will play with them but never loses control.
- Terrific indoor dog. House-trained, perfectly potty-trained. Never tries to steal food or counter-surf. Doesn't jump on furniture.
- Healthy. UTD on shots, neutered and really clean.
- Loyal and loving. He is content to just hang out on the floor wherever we are and absolutely loves to be petted.
- Smart. He knows sit, down, shake, stay and learns quickly (but as is typical of the breed, he can be strong-willed)
- Protective. When he's inside, he will bark at people or animals going by outside. This may be undesirable for some people, but it makes us feel safe.
- Good-looking. He is tall and muscular (105 lbs). No AKC paperwork, but a gorgeous dog nonetheless.
Why he's not working so well for us:
- Reactivity. We walk a lot and he does fine with almost everything (people, joggers, bicycles, cars), but does bark and lunge at other dogs.
- Strong prey instinct, and unfortunately, we live in an area with a lot of wildlife.
That's our fantastic Chief. If you have a large, fenced yard where he can exercise without encountering other dogs, or if you have the time and the ability to work on his leash manners and reactivity, he will be the BEST dog you have ever owned.
We are asking a $300 re-homing fee to ensure he will be as well-loved and cared for as he deserves.
