Norwalk Historical Society Awarded $10,000 SHARP Grant

NORWALK, CT — The Norwalk Historical Society recently received a grant for $10,000 to digitize eight of their past and present exhibitions. According to a news release provided by the historical society, the digitization will engage a wider virtual audience with the rich and robust online content about the history of Norwalk and the people that have lived there. Support for the project was provided to the Norwalk Historical Society by CT Humanities (CTH) through the Sustaining the Humanities through the American Rescue Plan (SHARP) with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the federal American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act. According to the historical society, the past exhibit, "Preserving and Observing: Two Centuries of Norwalk Art" will be one of the first exhibits to be digitized. The historical society's exhibition "Self and the World: Experiencing Photography in 19th Century Norwalk," which explores how everyday Norwalkers used and experienced photography in the second half of the 19th century, will be the second exhibit to be digitized and made available on the society's website.
