Description

From the Darien Blue Wave Football Team: February 28 2020 Even though the official football season won't begin until September, the Darien Blue Wave football team works hard year round. On March 13th at the conclusion of its winter lifting program, the team will hold its annual charitable "lift-a-thon". This year's weight lifting competition, held at Darien High School, will be against our rival Fairfield Ludlowe. Once again this event will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRH). JDRH is the leading global organization that raises awareness and funds research to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes (T1D). As of now T1D has no cure and is associated with many complications stemming from unstable blood sugar. Inspired by a number of Blue Wave family members and many in our own Darien community that suffer from T1D, the team is committed to doing all they can to raise money to help to make a difference and hopefully find a cure. Each player will look to get sponsors to donate to JDRF for every pound lifted as they compete, though many choose to make a straight donation. Athletes will lift a combined 500-900 pounds in three lifts: bench, squat and clean. We hope you'll sponsor one of our teammates in this great competition and cause. To support this cause and help our players reach their goal, please visit the 2020 Darien Blue Wave Lift for a Cure website to make a donation http://www2.jdrf.org/goto/2020bluewave. To learn more about JDRF visit www.jdrf.org. All donations are tax deductible. This press release was produced by the Darien Blue Wave Football Team. The views expressed here are the author's own.
