MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester officials Monday announced the opening of the 2022 Neighborhood Assistance Act program. Applications are being taken from qualifying tax-exempt organizations in Manchester, officials said. The NAA program allows Connecticut businesses to claim a state tax credit for cash contributions made to municipally approved programs and projects conducted by participating local tax-exempt or municipal agencies. The types of community programs and projects that qualify for the NAA program include. but are not necessarily limited to, energy conservation; employment and training; childcare services; programs serving low-income persons; open space acquisition; crime prevention programs and affordable housing development. The minimum contribution on which a business may be granted a tax credit is $250. The maximum NAA related contribution that any nonprofit or municipal entity can receive from businesses is $150,000 in the aggregate. No town funds are involved in the Neighborhood Assistance Act program, however, the Manchester Board of Directors must approve each agency's application for inclusion in the NAA program. Each municipal agency or tax-exempt organization that wishes to have its program or project be a part of the 2022 NAA Program must complete the program proposal application and submit it to the town for consideration. Applications should be submitted to the attention of Lisa Fusco, Manchester Human Services, 479 Main Street, Manchester, CT, 06040 or by email at [email protected]. Applications must be received no later than May 6, officials said. The list of tax-exempt municipal and nonprofit agencies wishing to participate in the NAA program will be submitted to the Manchester Board of Directors for review and approval at its meeting on June 7. The list of approved projects will be submitted to the state prior to July 1. ____ For further information about the Neighborhood Assistance Act Program and application materials, go to the CT Department of Revenue website at: https://portal.ct.gov/DRS/Credit- Programs/Neighborhood-Assistance/Neighborhood-Assistance-Act-Tax-Credit-Programor, or visit the Manchester Human Services Department's NAA website at: http://humanservices1.townofma...
