Description
DARIEN, CT — The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Darien reached 201 as of Monday, and there are 13 resident hospitalizations, according to First Selectman Jayme Stevenson.
She added that the number of deaths remains at four. This number differs from the state's death total of five, which Darien Health Director David Knauf says is due to one patient being labeled as a COVID-19 death by medical examiners because that individual had respiratory issues.
Statewide as of Monday there have been 2,556 coronavirus-related deaths, an increase of 61, and the number of confirmed cases stood at 29,973, an increase of 661.
The number of hospitalizations, however, continues to fall statewide, down by 24 to 1,464 on Monday, according to state health officials. (Don't miss local and statewide news about coronavirus developments and precautions. Sign up for Patch alerts and daily newsletters.)
