LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office responded to several incidents over the weekend, including an assault, reported reckless drivers, and Orbeez water pellets shot at a vehicle. Around 2 a.m. on Saturday morning, deputies responded to the 44600 block Brimfield Drive in Ashburn. There, a large group of people was arguing and shoving each other, according to the police report. Deputies began to disperse the crowd, but one person shoved a deputy. Vincenzo Carinelli Jr., a 28-year-old from Leesburg, was charged with assault and disorderly conduct. He was released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on $2,500 unsecured bond. At 7 p.m. on Saturday, a man told police that a car with three or four juveniles pulled up beside him while he was driving. The children then shot Orbeez-type gel pellets at his vehicle, according to the police report. The incident occurred near the intersection of Tall Cedars Parkway and Pinebrook Road in Chantilly. The incident may stem from the TikTok trend, the "Orbeez Challenge." In this trend, people passing in vehicles are shooting water beads at others with a pellet-type gun or an airsoft gun. Orbeez is the name of the brand that makes the pellets. The gel water beads are intended to break on impact but can cause serious injuries if not used as intended, according to manufacturer warnings. The sheriff's office said they identified the children involved. However, authorities said the incident was still under investigation and no charges were announced. At 10 p.m. on Saturday, deputies responded to the 100 block of Terminal Drive in Sterling. Witnesses reported multiple vehicles in the area driving recklessly, police said. Deputies found several vehicles and a crowd of people in a cul-de-sac. They dispersed the crowd; the sheriff's office did not announce any charges. Have a story idea?
