Romeoville Village Board Passes Seventh Straight Balanced Budget

ROMEOVILLE, IL — The Village of Romeoville recently announced that its village board has passed a balanced budget for the seventh straight year and has once again lowered the rate for the village portion of the property tax bill, officials announced in a news release. Village officials said that under the budget, capital improvement projects for the year include street resurfacing, repair, reconstruction, and landscaping. Other projects include bridge repair, purchasing a new ladder truck for the Village Fire Department, redeveloping Century Park and Lake Strini, paying for new trails, construction of the Aquatic Center and Romeo Crossing Park, and water main replacements as well as other planned improvement projects. "As always, Romeoville remains fiscally responsible while also investing in the latest technology for our departments and new amenities for our community," Mayor John Noak said in a news release. Village officials said that will be posting a full copy of the budget on the village website. The village's portion of the property tax bill will again be roughly 12 percent or less of the total. The other 88 percent goes to other taxing bodies. Residents' property tax bills are based on the assessed value of their home, a value that is determined by the township assessor. Residents enter their address and information about their property, including their township and contact information for other taxing agencies, will be listed. Residents may contact the township if they feel their home's value has not been properly assessed.
