PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Eagles just got a little bit speedier this offseason. And no, it's not just by retaining the quick feet of Jalen Hurts over another veteran option on the trade market. It's by signing a multiple-time NCAA champion and fourth place finisher at the Tokyo Olympic Games. Devon Allen, 27, one of the world's greatest 110 meter hurdlers, is the newest wide receiver for the Birds. He'll make the rare transition back to football, after leaving the sport in college to focus on his track career. During the recent NFL Pro Day at the University of Oregon, Allen ran a 4.35 40 meter dash, the fastest of the day, according to track news site DyeStat. It would've been the 10th fastest time at the recent NFL Combine. Allen suffered multiple knee injuries while playing football, but recovered to win two NCAA Division 1 titles in the 110 hurdles, before winning a USA national championship and the 2016 Olympic Trials. He was fifth in the Rio de Janeiro games before placing fourth in Tokyo.
