Darien Police Investigate Break-In At Middlesex Middle School

DARIEN, CT — Two people broke into Middlesex Middle School Friday night, and Darien police are investigating. Whether anything was taken from the Hollow Tree Ridge Road school was not disclosed. Darien police also did not give out a description of the two burglars. The incident began at about 11:30 p.m. on when the burglars tripped an alarm after they entered the building through an unlocked "exit" door, according to police. "Upon arrival an officer observed two subjects walking inside the school through a second floor window," Darien police said. "The subjects were then seen running deeper into the building." Surveillance video obtained later showed the suspect quickly leaving the building when officers arrived. Additional officers and a police dog were called to the school to search inside and outside, but the suspects were not located. Officers, however, found three shattered windows to a first floor classroom. The incident remains under investigation.
