Description
LA GRANGE, IL – The La Grange Village Board is set to vote Monday on whether to accept state money to demolish a house that has been the subject of a code enforcement case for the last eight years.
A village resolution said the house is at 330 East Avenue.
The village is poised to receive $56,000 from the state Housing Development Authority to tear down the house.
According to a village memo, the owner of the vacant house has been cooperative, but lacks the money to repair it. Given the home's condition, it is unlikely the property will be redeveloped unless the house is demolished, the memo said.
Without a state grant, the village would have had to pay for the demolition and file a lien on the property.
Once the village accepts the grant, the house is expected to be torn down soon after, according to the memo.
