Description
I'm looking for someone with a lot of heart and patience who can provide a home for a gorgeous, intelligent Husky-Shepherd mix. She is three years old, around 58 lbs, and smart as heck.
This girl is highly protective of her people, her space, her food, and her toys. She is a resource guarder/hoarder and especially intolerant of other dogs. She becomes aggressive when anyone other than her people come into (or near) her home.
She has so much love to give and will bond deeply with women, but is distrustful of men (she can connect with them, but it takes time and a lot of gentle energy). We've been working 1:1 with a trainer for months and have made good progress, but her previous fosters did not have a comprehensive grasp on her needs and my family simply isn't a good fit for her long term.
An ideal home for her will have:
- No other dogs (she likes cats, but is also very worried that they're going to steal her things, so she struggles to settle when they're nearby)
- Structure and routine
- No shared entry (she could be fine in a condo with direct access, but we've learned that a shared stairwell creates intense triggers)
- Lots of puzzles and peanut butter
If you're interested in talking about whether or not you would be a good companion for our girl, message me. I want to take our time and make sure we find her a place where she will be able to feel safe and secure. No rehoming fee. We want to set her up for success so she will move into her new home with two beds, lots of food, tons of toys, leash, harness, brushes/combs, and treats.
I have an appointment secured with a behaviorist in July, and I would gladly cover the cost of the assessment for the right person.
