On April 8 just after 8:30 a.m., deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff's Station's Transit Enforcement Unit responded to a report of a pedestrian who was struck by an North Coastal Transit District Coaster train near the La Costa Avenue overpass.
Upon arrival, the pedestrian involved in the collision was deceased. Deputies are investigating the incident. The manner of death will be determined by the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

The Sheriff's Transit Enforcement Unit investigates incidents along the routes of the North County Transit District. The Medical Examiner's Office will make a positive identification of the body pending notification of the family.
