Description
SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Smoke was reported in a building at Southampton High School Monday morning, fire officials said.
Chris Brenner, public information officer for the Southampton Fire Department, said as of 9:30 a.m., all the students had been evacuated safely and the fire department was investigating.
As of 10:15 a.m., the all clear was given by Southampton Fire Department Chief Alfred Callahan; the smoke reportedly came from a burned motor in the HVAC unit, Brenner said.
By the time the all clear was given, there was no smoke, and no smell of smoke, and students returned immediately to classes, Brenner said.
No injuries were reported, Brenner said.
