Since the pandemic many people have encountered a need to embrace more “freelance” approaches to work, and being able to use creative solutions to fulfill one’s needs. There are a lot of online solutions for freelancers of different types, (Fiverr, upwork, etc), but I’m looking for ideas on fostering an “odd jobs” culture in Dutchess County and create more avenues for people to work through. My personal vision would be that residents of Dutchess County rely more on local individuals for their wants and needs, because the freelance/gig culture requires that when people have a problem, or have some they want or need, their first thought is “hey, I should contact someone who wants this gig”. Whether the exchange is through bartering or a monetary transaction doesn’t matter much, but If you have any thoughts on creating an odd-jobs culture here in Dutchess let me know because I’d love to discuss it!
