Description

DANBURY, CT — Free coronavirus testing and flu vaccinations will be available this weekend in the city. Connecticut Institute For Communities, in partnership with the Danbury Health and Human Services Department, will provide free COVID-19 testing and flu vaccinations on Saturday at Rogers Park Middle School from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This drive-thru event will take place at 21 Memorial Drive in front of the school. With the support of Nuvance Health, CIFC has prepared medical staff to conduct nasal swab COVID-19 testing and the Danbury Health Department will administer Flu vaccinations. Connecticut with a population of almost 3.5 million, has tested over 1.46 million residents to date with 56,024 testing positive for COVID-19. Currently, there are no FDA approved vaccines to prevent coronavirus disease as the virus is spread through respiratory droplets from an infected person. As asymptomatic people can still spread the disease, widespread testing, social distancing and the use of masks during interactions have helped to combat further spread of the coronavirus. For more information, please contact Indira Meza of Connecticut Institute for Communities at 203-456-1413 or Veasna Roeun of Danbury Health and Human Services at 203-797-4625.
