As Coronavirus Cases Rise In Danbury, More Testing Is Available

DANBURY, CT — The city and the Community Health Center have created more opportunities for coronavirus testing as confirmed cases rise. The COVID-19 positivity rate in the city has "grown from roughly 3 percent to 5.7 percent — it's almost doubled," Mayor Mark Boughton said Wednesday night. There were 29 new cases confirmed in the city during the previous 24-hour reporting period. The city remains firmly in the "coronavirus red zone," with 25.37 daily infections reported per 100,000 population over a two-week average. Testing is free, and will be held at Price Rite Marketplace's side parking lot from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, and Sunday at City Hall, from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. Test results will be available in 2-3 days, according to the CFC. No doctor's referral, symptoms, or appointment are needed to be tested. The CHC regularly offers free testing from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at 8 Delay Street. The Connecticut Institute for Communities provides free testing at its Greater Danbury Community Health Center from 3 to 5 p.m. Mondays, 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Fridays.
