Danbury Coronavirus: Metro-North Switches To Reduced Schedule

DANBURY, CT —Metro-North will now be operating all its lines on an hourly schedule. The temporary change is meant to compensate for the reduced ridership in the wake of the new coronavirus. The trains are "here to provide all-day service for health-care workers, first responders, and other essential employees. Everyone else should stay home," according to an updated notification on the Metropolitan Transit Authority's website. Beginning Monday, off-peak fares will be in effect at all times. All Metro-North ticket counters are closed. Cash is no longer taking cash onboard trains. Riders may still use cash at ticket vending machines, or use MTA eTix to buy tickets on their smartphones. Trains will operate every three hours on the Danbury branch daily, hourly on the New Canaan Branch, and there will be busing approximately every three hours daily on the Waterbury branch. Between Southeast and Wassaic on weekdays, the trains will run every two hours; there will be no service on the weekends. More information and complete schedules can be found online here.
