Description

DANBURY, CT — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories. As horrible as the coronavirus pandemic has been to the Danbury, it's been even more challenging for the city's sick and poor. One of the few bright spots has been the Americares free clinic at 76 West Street. Continuing to serve its patients throughout the COVID-19 crisis and offering free medical care to the uninsured, the clinic has even adapted it services to provide telehealth visits. Nominator Joanna Gemmel calls the Americares crew a "vital, necessary, and caring group of medical professionals and support staff." Thank you for all you do, Americares! Do YOU have a local hero you would like us to know about? Share their story here.
