Description
Over the last few years, there has been a growing thing where people are having bonfires in their backyards. At first, it didn't seem like a big deal, but the scope and frequency of the fires is out of control. Last night, inside my apartment I smelled smoke so strong that I thought something nearby was on fire. I saw ridiculously high flames over someone's fence line halfway down the block - seriously, you guys need to burn the Wicker Man in the middle of a neighborhood? The back half of my apartment smells like cheap burned wood now despite the fact that I had no windows open.
People this is a city, not a campground. Open fires are illegal, pretty inconsiderate, and I'll bet you have zero safeties in place to put it out in case of emergency. Your smoke travels and if you start a fire, your fire will travel. The fact that some of you are burning treated wood which has a very distinct smell and PRODUCES HIGHLY TOXIC ASH, is also extremely dumb. You want to have a campfire? Go camping. Please, either be reasonable/safe/considerate or be ready for your building to be fined.
