Description
Join us for an evening of music, beer, raffles, a silent auction and a bake sale to help out Ukrainian people in dire need. Headlining this event are members of Slavalachia, an Ohio/Ukrainian/Belarusian folk band playing a transcontinental blend of high-energy folk songs. The Sugar Mules are a local bluegrass band who’s picking will blow you away. Opening the night are Mitch and Marg, making their stage debut beautiful renditions of folk favorites. Come by to catch the music, buy some raffle tickets for some great local prizes, and try one of Forest City’s new brews, Slava Ukraini!, a wheat beer which $1.00 from each pint will be donated to the Ukrainian Red Cross. This event supports UA First Aid (uafirstaid.com), a grassroots initiative started by Ukrainian Students from Ohio University who returned to Ukraine at the start of the war. One of the most desperate needs in the country right now is Individual First Aid Kits (IFAK’s) which have become increasingly difficult to access in Europe, and nearly impossible to access in Ukraine. These life-saving kits are essential for the treatment of wounded civilians, as well as volunteer and military personnel alike. This event will support the raising of funds to send IFAK’s to UA First Aid for distribution to hospitals in Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Kyiv, and elsewhere as needed across the county. These kits on average cost $115 per unit. This will be the fourth in a series of Ukrainian support events organized by members of Slavalachia since the invasion of Ukraine. The first three shows (held in Athens, Columbus, and Dayton) managed to raise over $12,000 for Razom for Ukraine and Father’s Care Inc, which provides for vulnerable orphans from Kyiv. **Though it is our sincere hope that this conflict will be resolved as soon as possible, rendering the need for these tactical first aid kits less dire than it currently is, we must prepare for the possibility that these items will still be needed by the beginning of May. If hostilities have generally ceased by the time this money is raised, funds will go directly to wherever they are most needed. $10 adv / $15 dos
