Description

Looking to connect with nature and yourself? Explore Maplewood Park with me (@MushYoga) and recharge. Rochester is a very lucky city in that we have 4 large parks designed by Frederick Law Olmsted: Highland, Genesee Valley, Seneca, and Maplewood. You may know one of his other parks: Central Park in NYC. To honor his legacy, join me for a Hikyoga series on Tuesdays in April. "April 26, 2022, marks the 200th birthday of Frederick Law Olmsted, author, journalist, public official, city planner and father of American landscape architecture. Olmsted and his successor firms designed thousands of landscape projects across the country, transforming American life and culture. His vision of public parks for all people — and their ability to strengthen communities and promote public well-being — are now more important than ever." (description from www.olmsted200.org) What to Expect: We'll walk along the Genesee Riverway Trail and stop along the way for breath work, yoga, meditation, and journaling. Be sure to bring your phone for photos! Check-in will begin at 5:15pm and we will promptly begin at 5:30pm. Parking/Where to Meet Up: Park at the Rose Garden in Maplewood Park. We'll meet up at the Stecher Memorial Fountain. What to Bring: Journal, water, bug spray, comfortable layered clothing/shoes appropriate for hiking/walking. (Keep weather/temperature in mind!) No yoga mat needed. Clothing note: we'll be sitting on logs/rocks so be sure to wear clothes you don't mind getting possibly dirty. Restrooms not available. Let's be green! No need to print tickets! *This is a rain or shine event. If there is extreme/unsafe weather, an email will be sent an hour before to cancel, be sure to check your email. If you have any questions please email [email protected] or DM @MushYoga on Instagram.
