in person talk by Zoltán Cséfalvay, former Secretary of Economic Strategy
While Hungary has successfully managed the transition to modern industrialisation, driven by foreign direct investment, technology import and a well-educated workforce, it now faces the challenge of embarking on an innovation-led economic growth path.
We'll be examining three key issues:
The shift to the more value-added parts of global value chains The widespread implementation and development of new technologiesThe upstream of innovations by start-ups.There is a clear sea change in Hungary as foreign direct investment has become increasingly coupled with higher value-added processes over the last decade.
The access to capital has increased, the institutional settings have widened, though access to talent needs further measures, in particular strengthening the talent and technology transfer between universities and companies. There are also opportunities in specialising in Industrial Internet technologies as well as Big Data and AI.
Our presenter, Zoltán Cséfalvay, is the former Secretary of Economic Strategy for Hungary.
