Description
LAUREL, MD — A car fire caused $135,000 in damage to a Laurel home and three cars early Sunday morning, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. Fire officials determined this was an act of arson, and a criminal investigation is underway.
Firefighters responded to multiple reports of an auto fire on the 8000 block of Moss Bank Drive just before 5 a.m. The fire started with a car parked in the driveway and jumped to the garage and the attic.
Though firefighters prevented the flame's spread to the living area, the two-story, single-family home is uninhabitable. The Red Cross is assisting the six displaced residents with housing.
The fire destroyed two cars parked at the house and damaged a third. It took 29 firefighters 20 minutes to control the blaze. Nobody was injured.
Investigators ask anybody with information about the fire to call (410) 222-TIPS or fill out an online form. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
