Build your own custom mini garden box Join us in the Studio with our featured guest Lindsay Smith of Sowing Seeds of Change as she shares her experience and knowledge of Urban Farming and sustainable practices. In this workshop we will be using power tools and collaborate to build mini garden boxes. Lindsay is a graduate from CSULB with 10 years experience as a special education teacher in Long Beach Unified School District where her love for gardening and sustainability inspired her to develop a recycling program, food rescue program, gardening club and cooking club at her school site. Lindsay has a certificate in Ecological Horticulture from UC Santa Cruz’ Center for Agroecology & Sustainable Food Systems and Horticultural Therapy Certificate from the HT Institute. She is also a 2020 Leadership Long Beach Institute program Alumni, where she led a community project to build raised garden beds at the North Long Beach Victory Garden. In 2020, she started her own fermented drink business, GreenSmithGoodness, and co-founded the non-profit Sowing Seeds of Change, which provides vocational training in urban agriculture to young adults with disabilities. In addition, she is an urban beekeeper, provides backyard gardening consulting and installations, as well as, an active member of several community organizations. FAQHow can I participate?
