Take a deeper dive into the Psalms with author, priest, and speaker, Tish Harrison Warren in order to develop a more authentic prayer life.
Most Christians find prayer challenging, even daunting. Many feel they don’t know what to say or how to say it, and they fear they can’t say what they actually feel—about their lives, the world, or about God. And yet, in the Psalms we find every human emotion expressed, sometimes even in shocking ways. The purpose of this Saturday workshop will be to take a deeper dive into the psalms to explore how they might form us in our own prayer life to be at once more honest and authentic before God as well as allow ourselves to be shaped by His promises and to walk more deeply in the truth.
Breakfast is provided and childcare is available with registration.
This event is open to all.
Ladies, please also join us for a special event just for women on Friday night.
Saturday Morning Sessions:
Session One: Vulnerable and Authentic Prayer through the Psalms
In the Psalter, we find Psalms that express the Psalmist’s grief, shame, sorrow, and even anger, many times in their rawest form. This session will explore how we can foster a similar vulnerability and authenticity in our own prayer lives, while also allowing ourselves to be formed through the uncomfortable Psalms and the whole of Scripture.
Session Two: Cultivating Hope and Joy through the Psalms
The joy we are promised as the fruit of God’s Spirit living within us can often feel hard to come by. And yet the Psalms regularly speak of hope and joy beyond the darkness that presses in around us. How do we cultivate this joy and hope in our lives through the Psalms even as we continue to face difficulty and heartache? And how do we radiate that joy to the world around us?
