KENSINGTON, MD — The CSX railroad bridge over the Capital Beltway that famously read "Surrender Dorothy" sports a new message: "Surrender Donald." It's the latest piece of graffiti painted on the overpass, which frames a view of the Mormon temple. On and off since the 1970s, the bridge has been daubed with the phrase "Surrender Dorothy" because the church looks like the Emerald City from the 1939 film "The Wizard of Oz." The message, "Surrender Donald," is presumably a reference to President Donald Trump, who — as of late — is trailing behind former Vice President Joe Biden in the 2020 election results. In 2018, Montgomery County resident Claude Taylor, who runs the anti-Trump Mad Dog PAC, said he had volunteers place a removable sign on the bridge that bore the same message. It is not immediately known who is responsible for the latest sign.
