Create a blacksmith's knife, while learning aggressive methods for drawing steel in this 4-hour intermediate workshop.
In this 4-hour class, students will receive an introduction to bladesmithing by forging a “blacksmith’s knife”. We will cover forging techniques related to forming blade-shaped objects with both distal and profile tapers, as well as aggressive methods for drawing steel. For this class, we will use mild steel, and we will not cover heat treating so that we can focus on the forging process. Students should have basic blacksmithing experience (i.e. a prior blacksmithing class at LMN or some other experience) as this class assumes students have an understanding of basic technique.
