Description

Press release from the City of Wilmington: April 8, 2022 Real-time traffic and travel map available at City website and at the link below Wilmington's Public Works Department has compiled the attached list of streets on which construction or, maintenance will occur over the next week by the City itself, or by either DelDOT, Delmarva Power, or private contractors. The attached information is for Monday, April 11 through Friday, April 15, 2022. The City's website contains a real-time map that is updated daily so you can follow any changes to the weekly schedule caused by weather or other construction-related delays. Public Works Commissioner Kelly Williams said every effort is made to compile the most accurate list each week of street projects that could affect your travel in the City the following week. She cautioned, however, that the time frames for the listed projects could be altered if they are delayed due to factors such as the weather. Also, on March 1 the State of Delaware's Department of Transportation (DelDOT) began a two-year reconstruction project to refurbish and resurface a portion of Interstate 95 that runs through the City of Wilmington. The project moved into Phase 2, with traffic moving both ways on the northbound side of the highway, in December. To know what is planned, when things will occur, and how all of it will affect your travels, you should Visit the DelDOT Restore the Corridor website often (daily if possible) and sign up for updates including text messages: restorethecorridor.com Download and share an informative Restore the Corridor Project Guide, available online here. Call DelDOT with questions or concerns. The DelDOT Community Relations Office can be reached by dialing at 302.760.2080, or you can direct your questions to the DelDOT Transportation Management Center by dialing 302.659.4600. As part of the continuing Restore the Corridor project, DelDOT advises motorists that the I-95 Southbound onramp from Jackson Street (off Delaware Avenue) remains closed while the I-95 Southbound offramp to 4th Street will reopen the weekend of April 23-24, 2022. That same weekend Southbound Exit 7B to Delaware Avenue will be closed for several months. Southbound traffic will then have two exits in Wilmington – Exit 7A to 11th Street and Exit 6 to 4th Street. Also, DelDOT and the Delaware State Police further remind motorists that the pilot Electronic Speed Safety Program, which began on Monday, January 17, 2022, in the I-95 construction zone, will continue until the end of the project.
