By The FWR Staff, Fort Worth Report April 9, 2022 When people think of a college campus, many unique things come to mind. Perhaps it is the large, renowned Texas Christian University campus, or one with tall buildings and one packed full of students. Tucked into the southeast corner of Fort Worth, Texas Wesleyan University created a new home for me. The campus is small and can be covered by foot in a mere 10 minutes. My favorite part about the campus is not necessarily the buildings or the rich history. The thing that makes me feel most at home is the atmosphere, the professors and the people. In a city of hundreds of thousands of people, everyone knows everyone at Wesleyan. Professors know your name, students recognize each other, and it is a community that encourages social interaction and friendship. Wesleyan has provided me with a rich education, but some of my most valuable learning experiences have been outside the classroom, on the campus itself. While there are many Texas natives, many students are from somewhere internationally. My immediate thought goes to the table tennis team. There are many countries represented, including China, Brazil, Serbia, Colombia, Pakistan, Guatemala, and my coaches are Romanian and Croatian. So many doors were opened thanks to these friends, and I chose what to study because of them. Their stories, experiences, struggles, and dreams inspired me to get involved with communications, and an eventual desire to learn about international journalism. The sheer cultural exposure and friendships I have created have made my stay at Wesleyan worth it. To read the full article, click here.
