LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Sewers improvements in Laguna Beach are on the horizon, after the city received $7.5 in loan financing for the Six Wastewater System Projects, the city announced in a Thursday statement. The projects are designed to increase the function and reliability of the city's sewer system, as well as protect the health of residents and prevent sewer spills into Laguna Beach waters. "The loans have been used to support Critical Wastewater System Capital Improvement Projects like the reconstruction of the City's two largest wastewater lift stations and lining 10 miles of collection system pipelines," Laguna Beach Director of Water Quality David Shissler said. "Through these projects, we've made significant strides to protect the environment, our residents, and beach-going visitors from wastewater system spills." The loan financing was awarded by the California Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank to fund upcoming projects, including the reconstruction of the Anita Street Lift Station, another 5.5 miles of pipe lining and vital improvements to the Coastal Treatment Plant.
