WANTAGH, NY — For two years, Rena Gasparis has been trying to change the laws in New York, making it a felony for an unlicensed driver to crash and kill a passenger. Gasparis' daughter Kyra died in that scenario and the driver received a one-year conditional release and a $350 fine, but no jail time. Gasparis wants to see lawmakers make the change, but she's not optimistic. "Right now, the hot topic is not to incarcerate poor people," she said. Click here for the full interview with Gasparis.
