Description
BROOKFIELD, CT — A fire that sent one resident to the hospital is under investigation by the Brookfield Fire Marshal's Office.
The Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company responded to a call at 5:19 p.m. on Saturday. First responders to the residential fire at 158 Candlewood Lake Road found a "fully involved" fire and a burn victim requiring emergency medical services, who was later taken to Danbury Hospital.
Crews from Brookfield Public Works also responded for ice control due to the freezing temperatures and water on the street from the fire fighting operations. Firefighters and equipment from Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Company and Germantown Volunteer Fire #10 also pitched in, while Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company #1, the Danbury Fire Department and Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue provided mutual aide by responding to a report of smoke in a commercial structure that came in during the residential fire. That call proved to be unfounded.
The Candlewood Lake Road fire was under control within 30 minutes, according to the report. There were no injuries to fire personnel.
