RAMSEY, NJ — Two people were arrested early Monday morning in connection with the theft from mailboxes in front the post office on Main Street, police announced. Police Chief Bryan Gurney said authorities think the recent theft is related to other thefts from those mailboxes reported in October. Gurney did not have any information available about the people police arrested. "Many victims from those thefts have reported that their checks were stolen," Gurney said. "We urge people to keep an eye on their checks and accounts. They should be very careful when placing checks in mailboxes." Gurney said police believe that the people arrested are "not the only persons committing these types of thefts." The chief said police are working with postal inspectors to get new theft-resistant mailboxes installed at the post office. Anyone with information about these thefts, or who suspect they may be a victim of mailbox thefts, can call the Ramsey Police Department at 201-327-2400. Email: [email protected]
