BROOKFIELD, CT — A fourth member of the Brookfield High School community has tested positive for the coronavirus, Superintendent John Barile wrote in an email to families on Tuesday. The last day the affected person was at the BHS was Friday.
"While Brookfield High School is now in remote learning, in large part due to the inability to adequately staff the building, it is also becoming increasingly difficult to adequately staff our K-8 schools due to the constraints of the CDC 14-day quarantine protocols," Barile wrote.
The newly quarantined member of the BHS community joins community members of Whisconier Middle School, Huckleberry Hill School, Center School and Brookfield High School announced last week and earlier this week.
Anyone who is considered a "close contact" with the infected people have been contacted by now or will be contacted very soon and provided with instructions on the appropriate steps to take, which includes quarantine for 14 days.
"As the health metrics continue to change we will closely monitor the COVID-19 data trends in collaboration with the Brookfield Health Department and our District Medical Advisor," Barile wrote.
