FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sacramento State Celebrates Japan and Japanese Culture Date: Sunday, April 24, 2022 Location: Library Quad, Sacramento State campus Time: 11:00-3:00p.m. Contact organizer using the sites form. . Travel to Japan without the airfare or jet lag. The Japanese program and the Japan Club at Sacramento State, in conjunction with the College of Arts and Letters Festival of the Arts “Sunday Funday,” present the 15th annual Japan Day. Japan Day celebrates the language, culture, and traditions of Japan and is fun for the entire family. This year’s theme is World Peace. Come watch a Japanese martial arts demonstration, traditional Japanese dance performances, and a taiko drumming performance by KoyaSan Spirit of the Children. Try your hand at origami, and fold a paper crane for peace; learn how to play traditional Japanese games; have your name written in Japanese calligraphy, or have your portrait drawn in an anime style. This year, we also host a Karaoke Contest for K-16 (Elementary, Middle, High School and College) students at the Hinde Auditorium (inside the Student Center) from 10am-1pm.
