Description

Male, TERRIER, AMERICAN PIT BULL, 5 years 3 months Runner came to APA!'s shelter as a very withdrawn, fearful boy. Now in foster care, he's come out of his shell, gaining confidence, and opening up. He's still a cautious pup, but he's well on his way to warming up to his new human friends - and he adores his new doggie housemate. After a slow introduction, Runner fell in love with the foster's dog, and he now follows her everywhere, tagging along closely with her on walks and on the car rides he loves, sticking his nose out the window. At home, he'll snooze in the sun and on the sofa next to her. He is also friendly with neighboring dogs and small ones belonging to friends. Runner is so happy to go on walks with his fosters. He leaps in excitement at first and then calms down and enjoys rolling in bushes, leaf piles and kicking around in tall grasses. A curious boy, he approaches new people. And he wants to greet other dogs if they're calm and friendly, but would ideally love a kitty-free home. At home, he's a very quiet, well-behaved boy who receives food and treats gently and is beginning to enjoy toys. At first, he didn't care for being touched, but now he's content to get back scratches and gentle brushes. He's a nicely house-trained boy who's learned to use the dog door to take himself outdoors. And he's happy to freely roam the house with his dog buddy when his foster is away, usually sleeping and happy to greet her when she returns home. This sweet, chill boy will do well in a calm, quiet, predictable home with a family who will love him and let him have his space. He especially hopes for one with a lovable doggie friend.
