NE OKC community members and supporters are invited. On April 9th, NE OKC community members are invited discuss the future of these two sites through the lens of a concept called the String of Pearls. This lens explores how the two sites, in addition to other existing Black cultural assets in NE OKC, are connected to tell a heritage story of the rich history and contributions of Black residents in our community. The discussion on April 23rd will be centered on the neighborhood context of the two sites; the Lyons-Luster Mansion which sits in an urban, mixed-use neighborhood, and the Brockway Center located in a single-family neighborhood. During this session attendees will discuss how the two different urban contexts could play a role in how these spaces are reactivated in the future. Free brunch and beverages will be provided. RSVP and bring a friend! --- This project is in collaboration with the Oklahoma City Urban Renewal Alliance and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The information shared in these discussions will help inform a revitalization plan to bring these two historic sites back to life while preserving history and identifying local entrepreneurs who can activate these spaces. The Open Design Collective is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization that supports the social and spatial needs of local Black communities and beyond. Learn more at www.opendesignco.org. Questions?
