Description
Drumming helps students physically, mentally, emotionally and academically. These dynamic youth drumming classes will help your child foster musical as well as positive life skills like creativity, communication, working in teams, healthy play and focused achievement. Class is taught by the amazing Kam Kelly. For 20+ years now, Kam has worked with the youth, senior citizens and the disabled: teaching, motivating, inspiring and giving hope to all his students. Kam will: introduce the student to the history & cultural context of West-African Culture and Tradition. Help them gain a solid understanding of the three basic sounds (Bass, Tone and Slap). Successfully teach them to play Djembe accompaniments for 3 to 5 Traditional Djembe Rhythms as well as introduce them to playing the Djembe' ensemble. Participants will also learn become familiar with the break (start and stop signals). On the last day, students will offer a brief performance for family and friends!
