Big Feelings is a solo art show of magical proportions by photographer Gabriel Mendoza Weiss Big Feelings is a photo series that is a larger-than-life look at human emotions. Everyday people are set against the backdrop of colorful, dreamscape environments. This photo series begs the question, “What’s your Big Feeling?” Maybe it's… DESIRE: evoked by two lovers lying in a bed of flowers, in the back of a pickup truck, barreling down an empty dirt road at dusk. WHIMSY: watching a cowboy lasso a cloud from of the sky. AWE: envisioning yourself levitating above the LA River, bathed in the midday sun. REVERIE: witnessing the ethereal image of your pastor, knee-deep in the Rio Grande River, ready to be received by nature’s waters. BOLDNESS: sparked by a tongue licking a cactus needle. ALL these feelings and more will be experienced in the Big Feelings exhibition. Come see it for yourself! Location This event will take place at the historic venue of what once was the Beastie Boy's recording space G-Son Studios in the picturesque Atwater Village. Drinks and fun will be provided! Come stoked! About the Artist Gabriel Mendoza Weiss is an LA-based photographer. Born in 1991. He grew up on Air Forces bases all over the United States. He received his BFA in filmmaking from Xavier University where he focused on short films and music videos. Under the guidance of his professors, he was turned on to artists such as Gregory Crewdson, Alex Prager, and Guy Bourdin. He moved to Los Angeles in 2014 and studied under some of LA’s most prominent fashion and commercial photographers. He has since worked on global campaigns for top labels in the fashion industry. Gabriel’s truest sensibilities come to life when building photo scenarios with an emphasis on set design and extravagant wardrobes. Big Feelings is his first solo exhibition. It’s the culmination of everything he's studied regarding color theory, fashion, and the strange that comes from investigating what makes for truly notable feelings.
