PRINCETON, NJ – A student from Riverside Elementary School in Princeton tested positive for COVID, the school district said Tuesday. This is the second case of a student testing positive for the virus in the past few days. Patch reported yesterday that a student from Littlebrook Elementary School, tested positive on Sunday. Read More Here: Student From Littlebrook, Princeton Tests Positive For COVID-19 Superintendent Barry Galasso said Princeton Public Schools (PPS) received notification on Monday. The student was last in school on Nov. 20 and was not symptomatic until Monday morning. Masks and physical distancing protocols were in effect at the school. "The student will not be in class this week and will continue to quarantine for a minimum of 14 days," said Galasso. No close contacts have been identified at Riverside. PPS is one of the few school districts to continue with their hybrid learning model amidst a statewide spike in COVID cases. Meanwhile, school districts in neighboring towns have decided to go all-remote. South Brunswick announced it was going remote through Dec. 14, while Lawrence Public Schools said they were switching to remote learning until Jan. 18. Superintendent Mark Daniels of East Windsor announced the district was pivoting to remote learning beginning Nov.30, through Jan. 18, 2021. Galasso told Patch that the "health of staff and students is a top priority" for PPS, which has been fortunate to have very few COVID cases among the school community. "Should we see the need to quarantine staff or students or to pivot to remote learning, we are prepared to take action," he said. Thank you for reading. Have a correction or news tip?
