The Honorable Mayor John Tecklenburg and Tuffus Zimbabwe will be in concert playing various musical selections on the piano.
The Honorable John Tecklenburg, Mayor of Charleston, and Tuffus Zimbabwe meet again to provide an afternoon of musical entertainment. Tuffus Zimbabwe is a pianist, composer and educator from the Boston area. He studied music at Berklee College of Music and New York University. Mr. Zimbabwe is the Musical Director for the new Jenkins Music and Arts Program (JMAP). His goal is to continue the musical legacy of his great grandfather the Rev. Daniel Joseph Jenkins, founder of Jenkins Orphanage and the world famous Jenkins Orphanage Band, and that of his great grand uncle Edmund Thornton Jenkins, an accomplished musician and composer in his own right. Gullah Geechee vendors will be on site.
Prior to this concert there will be a luncheon at Jenkins Youth & Family Village. Tuffus will be in conversation. The event will be in question & answer format. We encourage you to join us for a Gullah Geechee lunch prior to the concert and bundle your tickets at a discounted price.
