Description

Class runs Jun 13-17, 5-7pm daily. Ages 12-Adult. Max class size 6. Machines provided on a turn basis. This 5-session class will be held outdoors on a covered patio. As such, masking is optional. The main goal will be to learn how to 1) draw and cut fabric doll parts by using paper templates, 2) construct 3D forms using ladder stitch, backstitch, and a variety of filling types, 3) create button joints, and 4) customize dolls by using concept-specific body parts, notions, and fabric paint. Learners who quickly master the basics will move on to advanced techniques such as embroidery, applique, and other forms of embellishment depending on student interest. Needles for hand sewing and an ironing station for pressing will be provided. Sewing machines will be available on a turn basis (please bring your own if you have one). Notions, felt, fabric paint, and fine-weave cotton fabric will be provided. As always, students will be free to take breaks and say hello to the chickens on our homestead.
