HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — The "Concerts in the Park" series has been postponed in Havre de Grace. Traditionally the Friday night concerts draw crowds to Tydings Park when the weather gets warm.
The Havre de Grace Arts Commission, which organizes the gatherings, has been canceling the shows on Friday nights so far this June and on Monday announced the plan going forward is to pick up in July. The June 19 and June 26 concerts are canceled.
When the concert series does begin again, it may look a little different than in years past, now that people are encouraged to put 6 feet of distance between one another to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Maryland Deputy Health Secretary Fran Phillips and Harford County Health Officer Russell Moy have both said that outdoor activities are safer than inside.
"Continue to use common sense and practice social distancing," Phillips said at a recent news conference about the reopening of Maryland businesses and activities. "Nothing is zero risk, so we need to be prudent."
